The silver Mustang was featured in the movie “Need for Speed”; it boasts a custom-designed wide body rolling on Forgiato 22-inch alloy wheels
A custom 2013 Ford Mustang GT that starred in the blockbuster movie “Need for Speed” was sold by Ford Motor Company for $300,000 on Saturday at Barrett-Jackson Auction Company’s West Palm Beach event.
John Felice, vice president of U.S. marketing, sales and service, drove the spectacular Mustang onto the big stage. After spirited bidding that electrified the block, Dave Flynn of Columbiana,

Ohio, won the factory-special Mustang. Auctioned at no reserve, proceeds will benefit Henry Ford Health System, the nonprofit founded by Henry Ford to support the Edith and Benson Ford Heart and Vascular Institute.
“Everyone has a Mustang story, and the new owner of this movie car now has one that is particularly special,” says Steve Ling, North America car marketing manager for Ford. “Snagging such a high-profile car right now – 50 years after the birth of America’s first pony car – is something to be cherished. And helping such an important cause makes the sale even more memorable.”
Founded in 1915, Henry Ford Health System is one of the nation’s leading comprehensive, integrated health systems. It provides health insurance and healthcare delivery, including acute, specialty, primary and preventive-care services, backed by excellence in research and education. Additional information is available at www.henryford.com.
“Watching the car cross the block in support of Henry Ford Health System was very rewarding,” says Sandy Hudson, chief development officer for the organization. “Dave Flynn did much more than just purchase a new car. His purchase will help so many people get access to healthcare.”

The “Need for Speed” Mustang was used in filming and was displayed at all promotional stops for the movie. It boasts a custom-designed, wide body rolling on unique, Forgiato 22-inch alloy wheels. Other design elements include an enlarged lower grille with new air intakes, extended rocker panels, a twin-snorkel hood and low-profile mirrors. With a powerful V8 engine, the Mustang is finished in silver paint with Kona Blue racing stripes.

Ford Mustang: More Power, Sharper Styling
Expect the 2013 Ford Mustang to look a lot like the 2012 Shelby GT500. Image: Ford Motor Company The current Ford Mustang last got a styling refresh in 2010, even though it got new V-6 and new V-8 engines in 2011. It’s not due for a major restyling until 2015, which represents the 50th anniversary of Ford’s pony car. Ford needs to do something to keep the Mustang fresh between now and 2015, but it can’t afford to spend too much on a mid-cycle refresh. When in doubt, add more power and sharpen up the styling.
That’s exactly what Mustangs Daily tells us to expect for the 2013 Mustang, which should debut in concept form at November’s Los Angeles Auto Show. There aren’t any details on how much more power the Mustang will make, but the current Mustang V-6 gives up 18 horsepower to the Camaro, while the current Mustang V-8 has a 14 horsepower deficit compared to the Camaro. It doesn’t matter that the Mustang is lighter, because bragging rights are bragging rights. Expect to see a more prominent upper grille and smaller lower grille for 2013, along the lines of the current Shelby GT500 Mustang.
The angled rear tail lights are on their way out (thankfully), to be replaced again with flush tail lights similar to the 2005 design. There’s no word on pricing or availability yet, so we’ll call it as “comparable” and “spring of 2012.”

1967 The Fast & Furious: Tokyo Drift's Ford Mustang
The car featured in the film is, a true american car .. or is it so. We will discuss about this a little later, let’s talk now about this car’s history.
Originally based on the Ford Falcon compact, The Mustang was introduced at the 1964 New York World’s Fair, Mustang Mania instantly swept the country, and a new automotive market segment was created - the 2+2 or better known as the ’pony car. Borrowing minor design cues from the Lincoln Lincoln Continental and two-seat Ford Thunderbird Ford Thunderbird with an intentional touch of Ferrari Ferrari at the grille, the Mustang can be regarded as a true master of engineering, earning a number of prestigious auto industry awards and accolades its first year. Including those are Motor Trend Car of the Year, pace car duties for the 1964 Indianapolis 500, and the Tiffany Design Award for "excellence in design," the first automobile so honored.

In 2006 Universal studios, the ones who produced the movie, needed specially modified car, to fit their needs for the upcoming film. Particularly they set their eye on the 1967 Ford Mustang, but its V8 engine was not suited for the job, sow they added “some” Japanese tuning parts. One of these Mustang heart’s was an RB26DETT (RB is the engine code used by Nissan to denote the engine type. 26 means 2.6 litre, D refers to the dual overhead cam setup, E refers to the electronic (multi point) fuel injection, and TT means twin turbo.), taken from a R32 GT-R Skyline. This engine is used in all high perfomence Japanese car’s. The standard puts out around 280 horsepower, although it is possible, with modification, to get as much as 850-1000hp. The ones that were used in the movie, where tuned to stay around 320-330 horsepower range.
There are no off-the-shelf kits to make classic Mustangs ready for Skyline power, so a lot of custom fabrication work was done to make this set-up work. The few parts that could be bought include a Sparco intercooler, Be Cool radiator, GReddy exhaust manifold and a custom N1-style Magaflow exhaust. The RB26’s fuel system remains stock, but it gets its gas from a trunk-mounted Fuel Safe fuel cell that sends the go juice to the engine via some Earl’s stainless steel lines. For those who don’t know, The Skyline GT-R is a 4-wheel drive car, so in order to make things work for the Mustang who has rear-wheel drive, they took a 5-speed manual transmission from a 1998 Skyline GT-S and bolted it to a Currie Enterprises 9-inch Ford rear end. This of course keeps the Mustang’s drive wheels at the rear, which is very important when building a drift car.
Another one, that was also used in the shooting was an 430-cubic-inch Ford Windsor V8s and four-speed "Toploader" manual transmissions. With at least 375 horsepower on tap, the V8 Tokyo Drift Mustangs could spin their tires with ease - and would, no matter what. The beaten and battered Mustang got to 60 mph in 6.7 seconds and consumed the quarter-mile in 14.7 seconds at 96.7 mph. For a drift car built to bash into other cars while wagging its tail violently, that’s not bad.
Universal equipped the Ford’s with a Global West suspension pieces and rack and pinion steering in common. And all three had 245/35R19 front and 275/35R19 rear Toyo Proxes T1R tires and Volk Racing Grey GT-7 wheels keeping them off the ground. We salute the chief enginieers at the Universal pictures for making this piece.

Boss 302 Mustang
The Boss 302 was a serious muscle car featuring the high-rev Boss 302 V8 engine, which was underrated at 290 horsepower to match its Camaro archrival. Made for Trans-Am racing excitement, the Boss 302 was good for a zero-to-60-mph sprint in well under seven seconds, and it regularly clocked a sub-15-second quarter-mile. As one poll reader described its high-rev eagerness, “Once the car hooks up and the revs climb above 3500, you better hang on for dear life.”

Test Drive: 2014 Ford Mustang V6 Premium Convertible
With 305 horsepower at your disposal, a stainless-steel dual exhaust, and a drop top to match, the 2014 Ford Mustang V6 Premium Convertible truly is fun in the sun. No doubt, the car was a blast, top up or down. $27,200 base, $31,300 as tested, EPA fuel economy 19 MPG city, 29 MPG highway.
Ford’s V6 Premium edition convertible Mustang features a few bells and whistles not found on the base model. For instance, my Mustang featured Dual Zone Electronic Temperature control. Basically, the driver and the passenger can select different temperature settings. With the top down, this didn’t matter much to me, but a cool feature none-the-less.
Other features of the premium package include ambient interior lighting, a four-gauge instrument cluster, including 4.2-inch LCD message center with Track Apps and Ford MyColor. The car was also equipped with an auto-dimming rear view mirror (great for night time driving), tilt-steering with a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and aluminum accents. The car even featured upgraded clutch, brake and accelerator pedals.
As I eased myself into the driver’s seat, I was impressed with how the interior was designed. Not-so well thought out interiors can easily conjure up the word cheap in my mind. Ford clearly put some thought into their interior design this time around. Nice job.
My favorite part of the trip was putting the top down and hitting the open road. Ford has made many design improvements over the years. For instance, putting the car’s convertible top down is now a breeze. Two buttons at the top center of the car’s cockpit give you easy access to top down fun.
As for acceleration and power, the V6 Mustang had plenty. With 305 horses at my disposal, thanks for Ford’s 3.7L 4V Ti-VCT V6 Engine, I found it easy to pass the occasional Sunday driver out on the highway. Even better, the Mustang’s dual exhaust reminded me I was in an American sports car. No, it’s not nearly as throaty as a V8 Mustang, but it’s there and it does the trick just fine.
Of course, when all was said and done, I was most impressed with the car’s handling and ride quality. I drive a 2008 Bullitt Mustang on a daily basis, so I’m accustomed to a certain level of performance handling. My V6 tester held nicely to the road. Unlike other cars I’ve driven, twists and turns didn’t result in a serious degradation of handling. This convertible felt well grounded and ready to tackle whatever the road might deliver. Some of the credit goes to technology such as Ford’s selectable electronic power assist steering (EPAS), which automatically adjusts steering to deliver precise responses at high speeds and reduced steering effort at slower speeds when needed. Three settings are available: Standard, Sport, and Comfort.
In addition to the car’s impressive handling, the ride quality was equally impressive. The occasional bump in the road was anything but jarring and cabin noise with the top down was less than expected. If there’s any downside to this, exterior road noise was a bit louder with the top up than in other convertibles I've tested. Of course, being that it's a convertible, most owners will spend a good amount of time with the top down. If you’re looking for a quieter interior all around, maybe you’d be better suited purchasing a coupe.
I’ve driven quite a few convertible Mustangs over the years, and I’ve driven my fair share of V6 models. The last time I tested a V6 convertible was back in 2008. At the time I said, “The best thing about the 2008 Mustang Convertible is the driving experience. On the open road the V6 engine kept things exciting.” The same can be said about the 2014 model. Of course, things like a dual exhaust and improved horsepower make the newer model even more fun than back in 2008.
That said, I was very impressed with Ford’s 2014 V6 Convertible Mustang. Its handling was impressive, I was able to hold a conversation with the top down, and a few folks told me how much they liked the car’s exterior. In fact, some kids yelled, “Nice car Mister!” as I drove through a residential neighborhood on the last day of my test. “It’s only a V6,” I thought. Then I thought again. “A V6 with 305 horsepower and a dual exhaust.” Ok, that is pretty nice.
If there’s a downside to this car, it’s that blind spots are still prevalent with the top up. For instance, I had a difficult time seeing objects to the rear left and right of the car. The car also lacks trunk space, and, as I mentioned earlier, road noise with the top up could also be a bit of an issue with some folks. But overall, Ford really hit the mark this time around with their 2014 V6 convertible. If I were in the market to buy one, I would definitely fork over my hard earned cash.

The Ford Mustang
The Ford Mustang is an automobile manufactured by the Ford Motor Company. It was initially based on the platform of the second generation North American Ford Falcon, a compact car.
Introduced early on April 17, 1964, and thus dubbed as a "1964½" model by Mustang fans, the 1965 Mustang was the automaker's most successful launch since the Model A. The Mustang has undergone several transformations to its current fifth generation.
The Mustang created the "pony car" class of American automobiles—sports car-like coupes with long hoods and short rear decks[4]—and gave rise to competitors such as the Chevrolet Camaro, and Pontiac Firebird, AMC Javelin,[6] as well as Chrysler's revamped Plymouth Barracuda and the first generation Dodge Challenger.
The Mustang is also credited for inspiring the designs of coupés such as the Toyota Celica and Ford Capri, which were imported to the United States.
